Finely carved in statuary marble in the round, Napoleon is represented as a young man with a military attitude, confident in himself -. The cockade should refer to the period of the war in Egypt. Even the uniform with rigorous drapery, the eagle with outstretched wings that adorns the base, are classic elements of the iconography of the First Empire.
